Somewhere in Belgium, surrounded by water and wonder, lies a slice of post-modern art concocted by Karel Burssens and Jeroen Verrecht, a.k.a. 88888, two folks who share an interest in site-specific works.Their newest art-baby named Untitled is rectangular in shape—40' x 4'—and looks like a hole that keeps the water away and creates a disruption in perception. The daytime hole turns into a light aura at night—powered by LEDs—that seems to levitate over the water. Curated by architect duo Gijs Van Vaerenbergh, the sculpture was revealed at the Horst Art and Music Festival, on one of the two ponds surrounding the Horst medieval castle, and can only be admired and speculated upon from a distance until October 11, 2015.

Together or separate, Burssens and Verrecht are constantly looking for projects that involve special awareness. So far, they have done scenography work for the theater and the opera, but take a different tactic in Untitled, which is not just about tricking the eye through form and light, but also about artistic exploration of the architecture of a particular space. Just like in theater, the actors explore the stage according to narrative.
