Diners Form Massive Conga Line and Dance Out of Restaurant without Paying

After finishing their meal at a restaurant in Spain, the 120-person party snaked away—literally.

There's a special place in hell reserved for the dine-and-dashers. The movies might make leaving a restaurant without paying look totally fun and spontaneous, but what about the chef who just slaved over two orders of parmigiana with extra cheesy fries for nothing? Or the waiter who has to clear away your empty glasses and licked-clean plates without a tip?

One group that surely has an entire VIP section waiting for it among the fire and brimstone is the table of Spanish diners who recently danced out of a restaurant, leaving a huge bill in their wake. Yeah, we're talking about dining and dancing.

As The Local reports, the 120-person party booked a meal at the El Carmen restaurant in Spain's El Bierzo region to celebrate a baptism. They paid the restaurant a 900 Euro deposit and promised to settle the remainder at the end of the meal.

But they didn't. After finishing their food, the party snaked away—literally. The 120 guests formed a conga line and danced out of El Carmen, before jumping into cars and driving off. The restaurant was left with a 2,000 Euro bill.

Talk about sipping and skipping.

El Carmen owner Antonio Rodriguez was left shocked by the incident. He told Spanish newspaper El Pais: "It happened in the space of a minute, it was something they'd planned."

Other restaurant owners in the region believe they may have also fallen victim to the scam from the very same party of diners. Nearby eatery El Rincón de Pepín claims that in February, the group "stampeded" out of their establishment just after dessert had been served without settling the bill.

One of the workers told news website El Confidencial: "They had made a reservation for 100 but there was close to 200 people present. Just after eating their desserts when I was on my way to make coffee, they all upped and left."

Let's hope Spanish police put their dancing shoes on and catch these conga criminals.
