Finally, the EDC Promoters Have Started a Record Label

Insomniac will inaugurate its partnership with Interscope Geffen with an album from Arty.

Insomniac, the top dog EDM promoters behind Electric Daisy Carnival and Nocturnal Wonderland, just revealed its brand-new record label, Insomniac Records. The announcement was delivered via a motion graphic animation that the fledgling label posted on its fresh Facebook page with the caption "Welcome to the future of dance music", and which for some reason looks like the opening sequence you'd see at a movie theater in 2001.

According to the Facebook page, this new endeavor is a partnership with major label Interscope Geffen A&M, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group, which makes Insomniac Records Interscope's first EDM-only imprint. SFX, Insomniac's rival EDM promoter and the powerhouse behind massives like Electric Zoo, Tomorrowland, and Beatport, is rumored to be working on a similar venture themselves, though they have been beaten to the punch with today's announcement.

So far, the only artist on the roster is Russian producer Arty, who has previously released music through labels like Spinnin, Big Beat and Anjunabeats. Arty uploaded a clip from the first single of forthcoming Insomniac album to his Soundcloud earlier today, so you can check out "Up All Night" below. For future releases, the Interscope imprint plans to sign both unknown artists and established stalwarts, and it aims to represent "all areas of the electronic music spectrum"—but somehow, we'd still be surprised if Insomniac Records cranked out some minimal noise sketches or industrial EBM records. Hopeful up-and-comers can submit demos to the label on its new homepage.
