Hyped: The Week In Links 3/2

On the blog this week, we looked at Cindy Sherman as an Original Creator, took flight with some animated data, and found out how you can charge your phone with your breath. We also blended the unquantized beats of Mr. Dibia$e, found out what TED talks might look like in 2023, saw Rio’s carnival in tilt-shift toy form, and listened to some drones play the “James Bond Theme.”

And beyond the blog, there was this:

· Digital artist James Alliban has been experimenting with visualizing sound using a Kinect. The results (above) are very strange. And spiky.

· Scooter the Muppet gave a talk at TED2012.

· Biomimetic skyscrapers could loom large in our future cities, producing their own energy and responding to the environment, adjusting for the comfort of their inhabitants.

· Voice control: Researchers in Japan have created a handheld gun that jams the words of speakers who are more than 30 metres (100ft) away.

· We could be eating lab grown burgers in six months.
