Creators Remix Roundup Week 39

Birdy Nam Nam, Glasser, Yuksek, Spike Jonze’s new video and a sneak peak at Quayola and Jamie XX’s upcoming collaboration.

Our Creators are a very talented and prolific bunch, and our inbox is always cluttered with alerts of new remixes and mashups from the incredible DJs and producers in our line-up. We just couldn't keep these fresh new tunes to ourselves because, after all, filesharing is caring. Here are our top picks from the past week.

Birdy Nam Nam: “The Parachute Ending” (Flush DreaM remix)

Though sometimes we feel the French electro scene is a bit oversaturated, Julien Merelle (aka RbMz from Progamers) has a new side project called Flush DreaM that’s got just the right hardcore edge to give it an original feel. It makes sense that he would remix Birdy Nam Nam, as both musical entities are intertwined in the underground club scene. The DJ’s behind Birdy Nam Nam—in a similar fashion as Merelle—uniquely use their turntables as instruments, effectively switching up the expectations of a stereotypical DJ.

Yuksek: “Extraball” (The Noisey Freaks remix)

We especially like Yuksek‘s “Extraball” because it features the rhymes of brazen MC Amanda Blank who has “the voice of a sinner” (according to her). What we like best about The Noisey Freaks’ remix is their introduction of dirty dubstep bass lines to the otherwise upbeat dance/pop hit.

Glasser: “Apply”(Chairlift remix)

Taking it down just a notch, are the ethereal croonings of Cameron Mesirow—aka Glasser—tricked out by Brooklyn-based electro duo Chairlift, who just performed at our São Paulo event two weeks ago. They bring out her signature cackle, adding wind chimes, wooden cymbals and lots of vocal echos, making the track more “witch house” than the more classicized original.
