Evgeny Kuznetsov Streaks Across Net and Roofs Goal to Win Game 7

Evgeny Kuznetsov gave the Capitals the win in Game 7 with a beautiful streaking goal inside the final ten minutes of the third period.

The Islanders and Capitals played a tight game all night in this decisive Game 7 with Washington taking the lead late in the second period and New York tying it back up early in the third. For much of the period, it looked like it was either going to overtime, or it was going to break someone's heart. With just over seven minutes left in the game, Evgeny Kuznetsov broke New York's heart. He took off from the farside face-off circle and skated all the way across the crease to a ridiculous angle before going very top shelf on Jaroslav Halak and giving the Caps a 2-1 lead.

The Caps were penalized in the final minutes, but the Islanders were unable to tie the score on the power play or when they pulled Halak. Washington advances to play the New York Rangers in the next round.
