Mitch Marner Scored Another Ridiculous Goal

Marner has magic hands.

Maple Leafs rookie forward Mitch Marner has magic hands, and they were once again on display last night as he torched former Toronto goaltender James Reimer in his return to the ACC.

Marner picked up a beautiful flip pass from James Van Riemsdyk in the neutral zone, and after almost getting taken down, maintains his balance enough to pull off a stupid move in tight and slide it by a statue-esque Reimer.

Watch this again, again and again—I dare you to figure out how he pulled this off. That gem was the 19-year-old's seventh goal of the season and moved him within one point of Patrick Laine for the NHL rookie points lead. Marner's on pace to put up 34 goals and 77 points in his first year, which, if the projections pan out, is 21 points better than the 56 that Buffalo Sabres stud Jack Eichel put up in his rookie season last year.

Judging by Marner's first career NHL goal, and the way he dominated the OHL a season ago, we shouldn't be surprised by anything he does at this point. He's a highlight-reel machine.

Laine and Auston Matthews dominate the rookie discussion but, as we've said before, Marner and some other guys can play, too.
