This looks wonderful. ORBIT is a cohesive collection of short films made by a group of talented filmmakers, one for each of the planets. They dug through wonderful old NASA footage, created recreations, and added animation.Beginning and ending with the connection between modern science and ancient, heavenly divination, as we move through space, different planetary personalities emerge, touching on a number of scientific ideas. The key theme in all the films is the way they connect space to humanity, and the ways the study and exploration of outer space reflects mankind’s dreams and fears, and spurs our imagination and growth. ORBIT is a project that will use the avant-garde of cinema to inspire the avant-garde of science and education. The films are done, but they’re looking for money for distribution and other odds and ends on Kickstarter. (you can see who was involved there). The Kickstarter campaign ends soon; the films premiere in New York this coming Saturday, July 23.
