High Tech: Tiny Wings Is a Trip Worth Taking

I saw a lady playing on the subway yesterday getting super heated and looking like she was going to throw her phone at a bum when she clearly wasn't able to achieve a new nest.

High Tech is Motherboard’s far-out tech review column. Is there an app for that? Who has time to know? What’s an iPad? Where am I? Better check Google Maps. Stop stressing out and let us do the wondering for you. We love it. Seriously.

Tiny Wings is a game for iPhone developed by Andreas Illiger that I would highly recommend coughing up the $0.99 for and playing.

The idea is simple: you’re a pudgy flightless bird whose determination to take to the sky has been compromised by wings too feeble to do so. As luck would have it, your world is made up of colorful rolling hills for you to careen down, gain speed and briefly coast through the sky.

You’ll have a hard time not being hypnotized by the brain-soothing visuals and trippy soundtrack, but keep your eyes peeled, because nightfall is chasing your defective ass. Once the sun sets, the game is over. Keep up a good pace and rhythm.

Playing the game is tremendously easy. Just press your screen to stay grounded and let go to take to the sky.

You earn these hip little nests once you complete goals, so get good and stay on your A-game because, despite the game’s ultimately pacifying aesthetics and sound, it’s a real bummer when don’t get shit done, you know?

There are some coin-like items that line the hills for you to munch on but be smart. A wise man once said, “you can’t always get what you want.” Sometimes it’s got to be about the less-material things in life, like flying high, you know?
