Move the freak over, Guy Fieri. Your flames aren’t the only one setting the runway on fire.
Swim- and athleticwear brand Chromat’s show at New York Fashion Week last Friday had a refreshingly inclusive cast, with models from demographics that aren’t always represented on runways. You’d be hard-pressed to find other shows during Fashion Week that featured plus-size, trans, and disabled models, along with many models of color, as thoughtfully as Chromat’s.

And three of the models wore—or ate—something else unconventional in high fashion: Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.
Take a look at model L’ka Tea, above, wearing a fire engine-red bikini top and orange high-wasted pants with stitches swaddling some Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. Resourceful!
Need a snack on the go? Consider this ensemble worn by Ese Otobo, below, with an unopened bag of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos affixed to those electric lime green biking shorts. What a “lewk.”
America’s Next Top Model
“The Chromat Autumn/Winter 2018 WAVVY collection is about trying to find joy and escape within the spiral,” Chromat’s founder, Becca McCharen-Tran, wrote MUNCHIES over email on Tuesday. “Inspired by summer kayaking trips and personal watercrafts, I imagine wearing the collection while eating Flamin’ Hot Cheetos on a boat in the Hudson. We are fitted with bungees, packing for a quick getaway.”
What an image! McCharen-Tran noted that Chromat has collaborated with poet Jahmal B. Golden, who also happened to be a model in the show, on a poem entitled “Lick Your Lips, Sis” for the line. “In their poem, they reference finding joy and freedom in something as small as going to the deli,” McCharen-Tran explained. “And we love Hot Cheetos!!!!“
Take a cue from Chromat: Wear your cravings openly. Ease those Flamin’ Hot Cheetos in to your sartorial repertoire. Strap your Flamin’ Hot Cheetos bag to your pants pockets. It’s a number guaranteed to dazzle all onlookers. You’ll look like a damn snack.
