The tide of whirling post-dubstep tunes has steadily subsided over the past 18 months, and a wave of vibrant house tracks has risen in its wake. The latest release from French producer and Top Billin’ alumnus Fobator, “Welcome Home” b/w “Always Gone,” lies somewhere between the two monster trends: “Welcome Home” anchors ambrosial, softly glowing synth swells and cut-and-paste vocal samples to a staunch 4/4 house rhythm. “Always Gone” treads closer to booty bass territories, with sudden drops into stretches where pitch-shifted grunts explode between hefty drum hits. The 12″ drops next week on Pointé Records, but in the meantime, you can stream both tracks above.
