Gohouri emigrated from Ivory Coast to the suburbs of Paris when he was five years old. He would later go on to represent the Ivory Coast national team starting in 2006, and played in the 2008 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers, where he scored the opening goal against Madagascar.

Police are reporting that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Gohouri’s death. He was 34 years-old when he passed.
