TAJ CAM - NEW BRONX SKATE PARK

Now that the Department of Parks & Recreation has started soliciting the opinions and guidance of actual city skaters (mostly

Steve Rodriguez

) versus just asking their 13-year-old nieces what's cool, NYC skate parks have finally adopted a plaza-like style that mimmicks the streets instead of the jumbled, fingerboard X-Games standard from 10 years ago.

Yesterday I ventured up to the Bronx to check out the freshly-christened park by New York's (rich people's) beloved Yankee Stadium.

The spot looked pretty small at first, but I soon came to appreciate its flow and the high number of well-designed obstacles it contains. On the session were Zoo York's finest, Kevin Tierney and Black Dave Willis, as well as Supreme's Charles Lamb. In the clip below you can witness the defloration of the Bronx's new arrival for yourself. Beyootiful. TAJI AMEEN
