A FIST IN THE FACE OF GOD - NEKROMANTHEON

A week has passed since the Mayan black metal prophecies of Xibalba, and today I have more ancient mythology-themed metal for you. This time of the Greek kind, courtesy of Norway's Nekromantheon.

Hailing from Kolbotn, Norway (home of the mighty), Nekromantheon play thrash exactly like it's supposed to be: short, sharp and to the fucking point. There's nothing really exciting about a seven-minute thrash track, is there? Not for me there isn't anyways. You may know these guys from their death metal band Obliteration, who are signed to Tyrant Syndicate. They abandoned their original theme of Norse mythology and black metal in favor of Greek mythology-themed thrash metal, which, according to band member Christian "Kick" Holm, "Is just as interesting and twice as brutal, ha ha." Indeed. Holm continues: "We're hoping to entertain the intellectual crowd as well as the beer-drinking, old-school thrashers around." So far they've only managed one EP, 2007's "We're Rotting," and a split with Japan's Abigial on 2008's "Speed 'n' Spikes Vol. III." Both fucking OWN, so fingers crossed for the long-player.

By the way, if any of you missed the Pentagram show in London this week then let me reiterate: you missed out. Hugely.
