Grimes Shares a Preview for Self-Animated “Kill V. Maim” Video

Canadian pop star Grimes aka Claire Boucher has always been heavily involved with her music’s visual presentation, so much so that it feels like the sounds and images she produces are always heavily in conversation with one another. Boucher’s directed all of her music videos except “Oblivion,” which she co-directed with Emily Kai Bock, and also shared visual previews of her last album Art Angels ahead of release.

Today, the artist gave the world a first look at her video for “Kill V. Maim” off her groundbreaking 2015 album Art Angels, and it looks like she’s somehow added another artistic skill to her resume: animation. Her full list of credits on the previous “Flesh without Blood/Life in the Vivid Dream” video included writing, directing, editing, coloring, and art direction, so it’s definitively clear at this point that being a polymath is second nature for Grimes. Check out a slithering tentacle from the forthcoming video below.
