Cash Cash's New Lyric Vid is Like Bubblegum Laced with Acid

The east-coast pop princes are on that psychedelia tip

When it comes to dance music, nobody owns pop sensibilities like Cash Cash. Their tunes are all anthemic highs and sugary melodies with an aim to please. But their new video for "Surrender" shows a new side to the trio, a side that looks like it's been on a visionquest or two.

"I always felt that visualization is a very important part of music," says the group's Jean Paul Makhlouf. "Abstract art can really bring out a song's theme and evoke different types of emotions." In the video, faces morph into people and people morph into things and you end up as confused as you do elated.

"The song's lyrics are more on the deep emotional side but the lyric video brings out the upbeat nature of the melody and music," continues Makhlouf. "It's amazing how certain colors and textures can show something in a different light…The little nuances are really fantastic to watch."

Cash Cash's "Surrender" is out now on Big Beat.
