VICE Sports World News Roundup: September 15

Start your day with VICE Sports. Here's our morning roundup of the sports news from around the world.

Good morning, America. Welcome to the VICE Sports World News Roundup. Be sure to stop by daily for your morning headlines.

It's the 15th of September, 2015, and Sepp Blatter is still president of FIFA.

U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch says the U.S. isn't done with FIFA yet. This, amid rumors El Jefe himself is now "subject to criminal investigation." Also, weirdly, a bunch of South American club presidents have accused the son of Spanish footballcrat Ángel María Villar of extortion (Link in Spanish). The South American Federation, meanwhile, has announced a bunch of reforms, because, ops! they got caught.

The Rugby World Cup starts later this week, which is very cool! It's so close that we've entered that weird pre-tournament phase where there's no actual news but outlets are publishing things anyway.

Ruta Meilutyte is a very good swimmer. She is the world and Olympic champion in the 100 meter breaststroke, among other things. She is not a good cyclist. The Lithuanian fell off her bike and broke her elbow. Get well soon, Ruta!

The Champions League starts tonight. Yay!

Chelsea plays tomorrow but the team is in the news today because its Premier League title defense has already gone down in flames and it's the sort of thing that's hard to look away from. Jose Mourinho has banned players from "banter" in the locker room, which I think means he's just a hair away from banning enjoyment altogether.

Photo of the Day

It was a pretty slow news day and a pretty slow photo day. Here's Fernando Torres squatting on some kind of durable balloon thing. This is how Atletico Madrid gets ready for Galatasaray.
