Why We’re Talking About Weed All Week Long on VICE NZ

Welcome to WEED WEEK.

VICELAND all around the world is about to kick off with some very special programming. We call it WEED WEEK. It runs April 17-23. And you can guess what it's about. Your favourite VICELAND hosts, and weed aficionados, Krishna Andavolu, Abdullah Saeed and Action Bronson will be front and centre. VICELAND—which you can find in New Zealand on Sky Channel 13—is screening marathons of BONG APPETIT and WEEDIQUETTE late into the night. Action Bronson presents a WEED WEEK special of F*CK THAT'S DELICIOUS from New York, where he and his crew explore the ultimate munchies spots in the city that never sleeps. We visit Canada to explore the booming cannabis grey market in Cannabis Candyland and Canadian Cannabis: The Dark Grey Market, and we meet the weed cooking grandma in Nonna Marijuana.

Here on VICE NZ we're running a week of weed-related stories for you to enjoy over the holiday weekend and the lead up to 4/20. Why? Because it's New Zealand's most widely used illegal drug, and yet our nation seems to be lagging behind many other Western nations in our political approach to weed—its benefits and its harms. While countries as close as our Australian neighbours move to relax laws around medicinal cannabis, our legal process is at a stalemate. Over the next few days we'll be taking a look at New Zealand's cannabis culture and where we're heading. We'll be covering a range of issues from weed in sport, to the drug's effect on mental health, and its potential impact on our economy. Because things are changing. Some quickly. Some slowly. It's time to take cannabis seriously—and have a little fun as well.

Watch VICELAND on Sky Channel 13. WEED WEEK runs April 17-23, from 6 PM nightly.
