Mashup Breakdown, the brainchild of Benjamin Rahn, recently provided a visual deconstruction of the songs featured in Girl Talk’s All Day, but it’s not just Girl Talk who can recycle music into a seamless mix of styles and samples. The Kleptones from Brighton, UK released A Night At The Hip-Hopera in 2004, and it must rank as one of the finest mash-up albums out there. Mashup Breakdown have kindly provided a visual examination of the manifold tracks (lots of Queen) and film quotes that make up this sonic collage. If nothing else, it’s a great excuse to listen to the album, go here to see and hear it.And while we’re on the subject of music, auteur of the uncanny, David Lynch, has turned his talents to electronic music with the below track, entitled “Good Day Today.” Though it sounds a bit like he got trapped inside an autotune vortex, and it certainly doesn’t even begin to approach the brilliance of his sound design in Eraserhead or Blue Velvet, we give it a solid “not bad.”
