Creators Remix Roundup: Mark Ronson, Florence + the Machine, And Nick Zinner

Rufus Wainwright Ronson-ified, Florence goes thuggish, and Nick Zinner spins cotton candy pop.

Our Creators are a talented and prolific bunch, and our inbox is always overflowing with alerts of new remixes and mashups from the incredible DJs and producers in our line-up. We just couldn't keep these fresh new tunes to ourselves because, after all, filesharing is caring. Here are our top picks from the past week.

Rufus Wainwright: “Out Of The Game” (prod. by Mark Ronson)

When artists say their new album is “more danceable” than their previous work, it usually means they’ve taken a more mainstream route in order to blow up the radio, club scene, and catch on with the kids. Not to say that’s necessarily a bad thing, but more times than not, it’s not very sincere. In Rufus Wainwright‘s case, the title track off his upcoming album I’m Out Of The Game is an upbeat yet intimate slow dance meant to be shared with the love of your life… at least we’d hope so. Wainwright and producer Mark Ronson describe the vibe as “groovy, funky, swinging hips” in the album teaser video.

Florence + the Machine: “Never Let Me Go” (Clams Casino)

Though Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine will certainly hypnotize you with her melodic epics, her music is not really something you can “get down” to (swaying doesn’t count). Producer Mike Volpe aka Clams Casino pulls “Never Let Me Go” through hazy filters, packing a beat that steadily sleepwalks over Welch’s glassy vocals building up to a bottled release that erupts just before the three minute mark.

Canyons: “When I See You Again” (Nick Zinner remix)

We know Nick Zinner‘s an orchestral pro—see his recent work on 41 Strings and Stop the Virgens for solid proof. Just after playing with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at our San Francisco event last weekend, he dropped this little beauty—a remix of Canyons’s “When I See You Again.” Zinner’s calculated tendencies take on the instrumentation (especially the strings), adding effects that elevate this upbeat pop track to a state of blissful euphoria. This one might be on repeat for awhile.
