Dubstep pioneer Benga's ending 2015 on a high by announcing his return to the booth, after retiring from DJing in 2014. That break was promoted by a breakdown and later a sectioning. This year's seen the Magnetic Man producer open up about his battles with both bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. In a community that's often predicated on drugs and drug taking, his desire to talk about the link between drugs and mental health was brave, and more importantly, necessary.
He's decided to get the headphones back on and will be appearing at fabric on the 12th of Februrary, as part of a Tectonic night alongside Pinch, Mumdance, Ipman and Acre. Which'll be fun. Whether this is the start of a new career in Benga's DJing chapter remains to be seen, but the key thing is, he's back with a bang. Bring it out.
