European action and suspense channel, 13th Street Universal have developed an all-in-one-augmented-reality-choose-your-own-adventure movie experience for smart devices. The film, The Witness is sure to twist your eyes and mind with its clever integration of augmented reality into a suspenseful narrative about the kidnapping of a prostitute.

You call the shots. You solve the case. It’s like The Great Muppet Caper plus Foursquare minus Twitter divided by Facebook multiplied by the App Store.

This sort of thing is truly the first of its kind and a huge game changer when it comes to new ways of making people look insane while they’re meandering around the streets of Germany, peering into their iPhones, chatting with holographic prostitutes.

I hope they start remaking old movies in this format, too. How good would the 1995 classic, Major Payne be as an augmented reality thrill ride?
