Comey to Testify Trump Told Him 'I Need Loyalty, I Expect Loyalty'

The former FBI director's prepared statement details the "awkward" one-on-one conversations he had with Trump before his firing in May.

In a prepared statement to the Senate Intelligence Committee before his scheduled testimony Thursday, former FBI director James Comey described in vivid detail several "awkward" one-on-one conversations he had with President Donald Trump before his firing in May.

In the statement, Comey wrote he has "not included every detail from [his] conversations with the president," just the portions he thought would be "relevant" to the ongoing investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Comey wrote he took detailed notes after nine one-on-one conversations with Trump over the course four months—three in person and six on the phone.
