Ah yes, the Forbes 30 Under 30 lists: a collection of the highest achievers in basically every industry, seemingly gathered together to make the rest of us feel terrible about our own, comparatively shit, trajectories.The US version of the lists came out at the end of 2017, and now, just to make your January – already undoubtedly full of existential dread and your own brain constantly asking the question "what the fuck am I even doing?" – even worse, the European lists are also here. :-)!The rundowns cover various industries like media, business and tech, but for our purposes the entertainment one matters most. And while, yes, it'll probably make you feel old and bad, one thing worth celebrating is the fact that it includes Brits from all corners of our music industry, and actually does a better job of recognising UK talent than some awards shows do.Included as young European movers and shakers are rappers (Lady Leshurr, J Hus, and AJ Tracey all appear), singers (Ray BLK, Mercury winner Sampha, and Dua Lipa also get their dues), and groups, like The 1975 and Little Mix. It's a pretty cogent list of prominent acts, and, crucially, it gives young black artists and women the recognition they deserve, because their influence on UK music is not always properly rewarded.
