Hyped: The Week In Links 2/3

On the blog this week we took a look at prince of Dada Marcel Duchamp, caught sight of what looked like flying humans, found out what a temple for atheists looks like and also found out what a temple of 55,000 LEDs look like. We chatted with the 20-year-old behind Björk’s interactive live set-up, announced our event in San Francisco, learned that it was a good year for Kickstarter at Sundance, pondered whether this is the year 3D printing goes mainstream, previewed Bjork’s Biophillia New York residency and learnt that someone, finally, has made a hoverboard.

· Space Stallions is a film project from The Animation Workshop and it’s got ultra-rays, Mother Mustang, a demon of darkness called Destructo, and 80s synth music. It’ll stir memories of Biker Mice from Mars, Captain Planet and He-Man—which can only be a good thing.

· About a thousand years ago in the 1950s and 60s computer animator John Whitney was pioneering motion graphics, collaborating with Saul Bass on the title sequence for Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo in 1958. Check out some of his experimental animations, visual effects and his short film, Catalog.

· There’s nothing terrifying about a swarm of nano quadrotors flying in formation in an eerie vision of what the future of war might look like. Nothing whatsoever.

· Another homage to 1980s cartoons with Neon Indian’s latest video for his track “Fallout”. Don’t remember them featuring this much cleavage though.

· And lastly, internet memes as movie posters.
