Listen to Some of Orb’s Slackened Prog Magic

The first track from the Aussie trio's new album on Castle Face records is a bit of a monster.

Some would say that Orb play classic head music, a reference to a style that Christopher Partridge and Marcus Moberg mentioned in the The Bloomsbury Handbook of Religion and Popular Music. "With progressive rock, the programme was to innovate, to experimentformally, and to offer 'head music' for thinking rather than body music for dancing."

Others, would say that Orb are simply three friends from the beach city of Geelong who like to smoke the occasional twist and work on some Sabbath and King Crimson stye riffs and grooves.

We tend to side with the latter, if only because we don't really know what 'experimentformally' means. We do know, that "You Are Right", the first track from Orb's upcoming album Naturality is a bit of a monster.

Released on Castle Face and on Flightless in Australia, the album no doubt will have people moving their heads and their bodies.
