VICE x Screen Australia Present The Finalists Of 'Pitch Australiana'

This year VICE teamed up with Screen Australia and the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) for a new pitch initiative. The idea was simple: a lot of people want to make documentaries with us and we want to make that happen. So we created this fresh platform to let filmmakers approach us with ideas that speak to Australian communities, individuals, perspectives and subcultures that are overlooked or ignored.

The winner will secure $50,000 of funding for a production to be released through VICE’s lauded tent-pole digital documentary series, Australiana . Their short form documentary will be released through VICE’s global digital network, and will join previous Australiana films also broadcast on local TV channel SBS VICELAND.

Today we’re excited to announce the four finalists who will compete for the grand prize in a public pitching session in front of a panel that includes acclaimed Australian documentary filmmaker Kitty Green ( Ukraine is Not A Brothel, Casting JonBenet); heavyweight producer Robert Fernandenz ( Wormwood, Fog of War); and representatives from VICE and Screen Australia.

This pitch-fest will take place at AIDC in Melbourne at Deakin Edge in Federation Square on Tuesday 6 March, at 4.15PM.
