Sadboys World ’round will be familiar with the opening notes of Sufjan Stevens’ absolutely unforgettable 2005 album Come on Feel the Illinoise. When Jaymes Young reworked the opening bars into a soulful R&B tune titled “Habits of My Heart,” we figured it was the extent of the cross-genre appropriation.

We were wrong. Elk Road, a producer who jumps around the bass spectrum from glitch hop to trap and back, took the re-work and pumped it full of energy, coming up with a dubstep-influenced electro tune primed for big stages. Don’t worry, though, he kept the bondage references from Young’s re-work. We’re intrigued to know what sadboy #1 Sufjan Stevens thinks of this whole thing.
