Stroke - Songs For Chris Knox

. If you haven't spent the last 30 years keeping abreast of New Zealand's alternative music scene, let us tell you now that Knox was the singer for the kiwi proto-punk band The Enemy before playing with the more pop tinted Toy Love. He was integral in the golden years of the Flying Nun label where he recorded and filmed bands and literally trod the footpaths restocking record stores with the labels' releases. Since Toy Love he has released countless albums and EPs under his own name and as Tall Dwarfs with friend Alec Bathgate.

Stroke

features covers of Knox songs by the likes of Jay Reatard, The Chills, Hamish and David Kilgour (of The Clean), Bill Callahan, Yo La Tengo, Lambchop, Will Oldham, The Bats, The Mountain Goats, Lou Barlow and many more and all proceeds go towards Knox's rehabilitation.
