In case you haven't noticed already, there's been a lot more niche electronic music shows in Toronto lately, thanks at least in part to the work of collective It's Not U It's Me. They've already thrown parties in locations including a church and a soon-to-be-closed mall, and now they've teamed up with The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery for a summer event series, happening July 9, July 30, and August 20.According to their website, the organizers were inspired by similar gatherings at New York City's MoMA PS1, Ghent, Belgium's Vooruit, and London's Institute of Contemporary Art, and hope to transform the venue into a space "celebrating the diverse cultures and DIY community spirit of underground dance music."The inaugural lineup features Detroit techno pioneers Claude Young, DJ Stingray, Rick Wilhite, and the Interdimensional Transmissions crew, Dutch disco producers Antal and San Proper, and Discwoman-affiliated acid enthusiast Volvox, and others.
