Cassette Playa was at our London event enjoying the installations and exploring the exhibition, as you’ll see from this charming video our team made, where her inner nerd got to run around in our technological playground. But she was also there to give a presentation about her Augmented Reality (AR) Fashion show. The show started with a video pumping out loud dance music. Then Carri explained her interests and what led her up to the idea. Her passion for video-games, her fascination with the concept of avatars, and how wanting to create a real-life avatar led to the realisation of the Augmented Reality Fashion show. We were then given a demonstration by her crew, who wore special T-shirts with symbols in the center. While Carri’s crew walked the stage in their custom T-shirts, they were filmed and then projected onto a screen before the audience. The symbols on the shirts allowed them to add virtual text, a dancing glittering female form, crazy head gear, or whatever they could think of, which then appeared, augmenting their reality onscreen. Then it was the audience’s turn to come up on stage and give it a try. It was exciting to see a fashion designer so enthusiastically embrace technology and use it in such a fun unexplored way.
