British pop star Ellie Goulding‘s aptly named new single, “Lights,” opens with a shot of some pretty twinkles, and the singer’s glowing silhouette. But this is not your typical spotlight—as the action progresses, Goulding blazes through a world of laser beams and LEDs, and we can thank Creator Moritz Waldemeyer for this spectacular 3D imagery.Waldemeyer says he incorporated several of his dazzling designs in Goulding’s video, including a laser dance table, drum sticks, and “magically programmed” LED wands. A camera crew positioned 50 Olympus EP1s on a time slice rig in order to capture the singer in this glowing 3D world.Waldemeyer, who is currently based out of London, has collaborated with several high profile musicians in the past, like Rihanna, OK Go, Bono, and Mika. He has also worked frequently with avant-garde fashion designer Hussein Chalayan, and the two have dreamed up some enchanting illuminated designs.“The music scene is just now becoming aware of the potential of these technologies,” says Waldemeyer. “There’s suddenly a great demand, and I hope I can be involved in creating new things.”
