Kaleidoscope Continue a True Commitment to Pushing the Punk Sound

The New York punks latest release 'Volume 3' takes elements of noise, aggressive hardcore, and psych.

Of the many excellent bands to have sprung from New York City's punk scene in recent years, few have been as creative or experimental as Kaleidoscope. Taking elements of noise, aggressive hardcore, psych and jazzy flourishes, the three-piece have followed a true commitment to unique sounds and expanding their music.

After sharing the track "Body Bureau" and releasing the album on cassette earlier this year, they are set to drop their latest album Volume 3, on Virginia label Feel It.

Engineered in the group's Brooklyn home studio Volume 3 is layered with original samples, overdubs, and guest instrumentation from friends, but the six-tracks are still very much a punk rock record and when vocalist Shiva Addanki, taunts "I know I can bring you down to your knees" on "Activation", he sings it like he means it.

Kaleidoscope's "Volume 3" 12" is available May 12 through Feel It.
