Steve Will Rent You His Backyard for Eighty Bucks a Night on Airbnb

"Pitch your tent in my back yard."

Meet Steve. He lives in Napa Valley, California. And he's willing to let you stay in his backyard for just $80 a night. No charge if you double up.

How do I know about Steve's generous offer? Through Airbnb, the web's premier service for backyard campsite rentals. You see, an old friend of mine, the comedian Nick Rutherford, was doing a show in Napa and he needed a place to stay after the gig. He used the popular and convenient internet service Airbnb, and in no time, he'd found Steve.

But thanks to the Internet, anyone can rent Steve's fine-looking backyard, which, as a bonus, is full of antique fitness equipment and multiple barbeques and picnic tables.

Don't take it from me. Take it from Steve:

Pitch your tent - or I can rent you one! - in my back yard.

Private with high fences and big hedges all around. The house is 1300 sf on a 0.23 acre lot. Access to the house bathrooms. Quiet, lovely nights under the stars. Secure, mellow neighborhood. Established, residential part of Napa, 2.5 miles from the Fairgrounds where they are having BottleRock. Cable TV in living room. Plenty of free street parking. Gas and wood BBQ grills available. Breakfast available for $15 per meal. Washer/dryer. Price is $80 per campsite, per night. Two campers max per campsite. Three campsites max each night during the BottleRock days. Other days, one campsite total per night, refunds cheerfully made with a 10% charge.

No smoking, though. We should all be glad that we live in this brave new future. Just ten years ago, we lived in a world where it was practically impossible for strangers to pay Steve $80 to pitch a tent in his backyard.
