Saints WR Brandin Cooks Melts Faces With a Rocket-Fast, 98-Yard TD

Nothing better than watching the Raiders coverage eat Brandin Cooks' afterburners for lunch.

This Oakland vs. New Orleans game has been pret-ty good for a couple of teams that didn't even make last year's playoffs. We've got Drew Brees on a freshly-inked contract, and a Raiders team bolstered by a hefty free agent haul from last year. Seems like a pretty good recipe to begin with, and sure enough, the Saints had something cook(s)ing up for today. (Oh, god. I'm so sorry.)

About midway through the third quarter, with the Raiders trailing just a touchdown, the Saints had the ball at their own two yard line. On first and ten, Brees dropped into the pocket and fired a neat little floater over Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks' coverage, and let his wide receiver's legs do the rest of the work. And good god, did he. A 98-yard touchdown, carried most of the way with Raiders' defense eating Cooks' afterburners. Delightful.

Brees already has a bit of a magic touch with the Raiders, as—prior to this game—he hadn't thrown an interception to the Raiders since 2003. That's 209 passes that have escaped black and silver gloves. Pretty much all Brees has to do is huck the ball up, and see what happens. Oh yeah, and add in a little help from Cooks works too. Spicy. (Oh god, so sorry again.)
