Announcing The Studio And Other Exciting News For The Creators Project 2011

The Creators Project is evolving and expanding this year. Trust us, this is news you won’t want to miss.

It's hard to believe The Creators Project only started 9 months ago.

The first year of The Creators Project was a great one. We met artists like Brain Farm, Moritz Waldenmeyer, Ray Lei, and EE. We helped to bring new works from Nick Zinner, Radical Friend, and Muti Randolph to cities around the world. We saw some killer shows from some of our favorite acts at our events.

In 2011, we're continuing what we started, from introducing new Creators, to throwing events around the world.

But, we're also dreaming a little bigger this year.

We’re starting new video series, introducing new Creators, making our events bigger and better, and most importantly, starting a new initiative meant to support artists in the creation of new works, called The Studio.

The Studio
We'll be working with leading and emerging artists, musicians, filmmakers, and designers from all over the world to produce multimedia works, helping people with great ideas actualize their visions with funding, resources, and access to new technology. We will then help showcase these works to the world via our documentary series, blog, and at our live events.

Some of the projects we've already got in store include a collaboration with visionary fashion designer Hussein Chalayan, who we'll be partnering with on his upcoming Spring/Summer 2012 fashion show at Paris Fashion Week this October, and DIY Brazilian rapper Emicida, who we'll be helping produce and release his first studio album.

The Studio launches at Coachella
Last month we announced our creative partnership with Coachella, one of our favorite music festivals. We told you more information would be coming, and while we can't reveal all the juicy details just yet, we can tell you that the first set of works from The Studio will premiere this April at Coachella.

We are partnering with headlining acts like Interpol and Animal Collective (who will be working with Black Dice) to create a new visual experience to match their live sets.

Returning creators and masters of light technology, United Visual Artists (UVA), are redesigning Coachella's main stage to create a dynamic canvas for musical performance. We're also partnering with esteemed UK film director Jonathan Glazer and UK band Spiritualized to produce an experimental light and sound installation designed by Undisclosable, with creative and technical support from One of Us.

And this is only the beginning. We'll be releasing more details about the projects we're bringing to Coachella, exclusive interviews, photos and videos, as well as insights into the creative process behind these monumental works, as the countdown to the festival ticks away.

Select artwork from Coachella, along with additional work from The Studio, will then travel the world as part of The Creators Project international event series.

The Creators Project Videos
We're also bringing new video series to the site and adding some new names to the Creators list. This year's documentary series will feature longer, more in-depth videos, immersing you in the creative processes of such seminal artistic figures as Interpol and Hussein Chalayan. We'll also be announcing more Creators like Glasser, Academy-Award winning film collective H5, and media artists like Quayola, Feng Mengbo, and Taeyoon Choi.

And don't worry, we haven't forgotten about the parties. In 2011 our events series will be returning to New York, Sao Paulo, Seoul, and Beijing, as well as making stops in Paris and Lyon. Look for more details about the events shortly!
