Ljudbilden & Piloten Are Hand Drawing Our Nightmares

The Swede behind part-time monster factory, Ljudbilden & Piloten.

At one point or another, I think it’s safe to say we’ve all daydreamed about turning sketchbook doodling into a profession. When it comes down to it though, most of us can’t really draw. The few that are talented enough, like Don Hertzfeldt and whoever came up with this, however, are responsible for some of the most mind-bending and wildly imaginative animations of all time. Cue Kristofer Ström, the Swedish director and animator behind creativity factory, Ljudbilden & Piloten.

Ström's animations are some seriously jaw-dropping, creature-based creations with a few teeth too many and a penchant for all things neon. At their core, however, the animations are fiercely nuanced, expressive, and deftly transitioned doodles perfect for zoning out. Who couldn’t use some more face-melting dubstep dinosaurs in their life?

All we can think about is that we sincerely hope Ström survived his recent 48-hour drawing event Sketch or Die, and that we sure can't wait to see what he came up with. Some of our favorite creations below:

16bit – "Dinosaurs"

Benga – "Baltimore Clap"

“Animals”
