Patrick Kane Scored the Filthiest Goal of the NHL Season

The Chicago Blackhawks star and reigning MVP is on fire.

Alongside this late contender for the 'redundant statement of the year' award, Patrick Kane scored one of the nicest goals you will ever see on Sunday against Montreal.

Kane is so good, we've gotten used to hearing those words come out of analysts and commentators mouths while taking his freakishly common highlight-reel goals for granted over his decade-long NHL career.

Kane is able to take over a game on a single play, and no matter how many different ways we see him dominate, he always seems to find new ones to make our jaws drop to the floor.

This latest from Kane—a falling, diving piece of wizardry from one of the NHL's most talented offensive players—definitely ranks up there as one of his best ever. That's really saying something considering the depth and volume of his career highlight collection.

This one was extra special as the incredible effort by Kane put the Blackhawks up 3-2 in the third period, and stood up as the game-winning goal. Canadiens goaltender Al Montoya had some special praise for the 2016 Hart Trophy winner after the game.

"There's not many guys that can make that play. He's one of two and (Pavel Datsyuk) is already gone, so heck of a goal," Montoya said.

There's an obvious correlation between Kane's success and the success of the Blackhawks. He's put up 18 points in 16 games this season, while the Hawks have won nine of their last 10. He hasn't recorded a point in five of those 16 games, and Chicago is 1-4 in those contests.

Kane, who ranks third in the league in scoring, should challenge for the MVP award again this season. Duh.
