College basketball is officially back and there have been some pretty great games so far this morning and early afternoon, including UMass hosting Manhattan in Amherst. The Minutemen seemed to have the game in hand with the ball and a two-point lead with two seconds left in the game, but turned it over under their own basket on a botched inbound play. So, thanks to UMass, the Jaspers had one last chance with .8 seconds left on an inbound play of their own. Since time made a catch-and-shoot play difficult, Manhattan really only had one option: a play at the basket. They ran it to perfection for a pretty play at any time, but a stunner to tie it at the end of regulation. The excitement was short-lived for Manhattan, though, because UMass rallied in overtime and won 77-68.[ESPN]
