NEW YORK - FEEDING FRENZY

Good luck getting into tomorrow night's Obits show at Union Hall. All the advanced tickets sold out within a day or so of its announcement, which isn't that weird considering their last show here in January was packed to the gills, but is a little that weird when you factor in the part about that show being the first time they'd ever played live together ever. On top of that, an inside source from a smaller Brooklyn label told us when they talked to Rick Froberg a little after the band's show Sub Pop had "already gotten their grubby hands all over them." We'd like to think it's a good sign for the music industry when a couple of guys from such reputable older bands as Drive Like Jehu and Edsel can't have a group for more than a month without being completely hounded by major labels, but you know the reality is they're all in scramble mode for anything that remotely smells like good tunes. Anyways, if you can't make it in to the show, at least you can console yourself with the bootleg of their first full performance while it's still up. (Link via whatever dude put it up first.)
