Growing don't come across as a "my favorite band" kind of band, like Slade or Tiger Trap, which is unfair to them, because they should be everybody's favorite band. In a field where farting into a delay pedal is the norm (experimental music) and acts who do anything other than fart into a delay pedal are hailed as musical geniuses, Growing actually are for-serious musical geniuses. The noises and soundscapes they squeeze out of guitars are both wholly unguitarlike and completely seminal, in the sense that they kind of sound like cumming. Letting them baste your brain with their music in a live setting feels like taking MDMA,especiallyif you've taken MDMA. And now they're all OURS. Vice Records has signed Growing and will be putting out their new albumPumpsin April. How good is it going to be? This good: "Hormone" If you're curious what our previous involvement with Growing is, well,we've taken DMT with one of themand we've shot an episode of Practice Space with them. That's basically it so far. Keep your eyes onVice Recordsfor more news.
