YouTube Banned in Iran

Along with high-speed internet, CNN ,democracy, The Da Vinci Code, gays, and (we're assuming) fun, Iran has now banned YouTube. From early in December, Iranians who have tried to log on have been given the message: "On the basis of the Islamic Republic of Iran laws, access to this Web site is not authorized." Proposed reasons for the ban include the availablilty of pop videos (which are seen as corrupting by the religious leadership) and a very popular recent video of a famous Iranian soap star committing the senseless, heinous act of having sex with her boyfriend, found on the site…

The main question that comes from this news is: What on earth are Iranians now going to do at work all day? Fair enough the government don't want their people finding out what's happening in the rest of the world and want to prevent the influence of western culture, but look what they're mising out on - stuff like the video shown above and this recent classic. How can a nation be justified in depriving its people of such entertainment? Quite frankly, it shouldn't be allowed.
