VICE Canada will be sitting down beard-to-beard with NDP leader Tom Mulcair at a town hall meeting Tuesday to discuss the issues that are important to young Canadians. The interview, to take place at Toronto's Great Hall on Tuesday, October 13 at 5:30 PM EST, will be MC'd by Damian Abraham, VICE Canada host and frontman for punk band Fucked Up. It will be open to the public and live-streamed on the Daily VICE hub, but you can also watch here:

Members of the audience and VICE Canada staff will ask Mulcair where he stands on a number of issues we've been covering, including missing and murdered Indigenous women, Indigenous water access, weed legalization, Bill C-51, and transgender health rights.

Daily VICE recently asked Prime Minister Stephen Harper if he would call for an inquiry into missing and murdered indigenous women, to which Harper replied "most of these murders, sad as they are, are in fact solved." According to the RCMP, 1,107 Indigenous girls and women have been murdered and another 164 went missing between the years 1980 and 2012; as of June 2015, 106 murder and 98 missing cases remained unresolved.

AT VICE Meets Trudeau, Liberal leader Justin Trudeau promised to end the 133 boil water advisories in First Nations communities across Canada within five years of being elected.

Marijuana has been a contentious issue among the leaders, with Trudeau claiming he'd legalize it—something Prime Minister Stephen Harper is staunchly opposed to. Mulcair has said he would decriminalize it.

Bill C-279, a law that would protect trans Canadians against discrimination, was killed by the Senate in July. VICE's documentary On Hold explores the difficulties transgender patients face in accessing treatment. Trudeau told VICE he would re-examine the provincial transfer program and work more closely on health care with provinces.

Mulcair, who was once voters' top choice to be Canada's next prime minister, has seen his support dwindle over the last couple months. The latest polls show the Liberals neck and neck with the Conservatives, with the NDP well back in third place.

This is the second event in VICE Canada's Meet The Leaders series. The Conservatives have declined our request for a similar event with Harper.
