On Friday, Donald Trump signed an executive order blocking all travel into the United States for citizens of seven predominantly Muslim countries, including Iraq, Iran, and Syria. The Muslim ban prompted immediate outcry across the country and world over the weekend. Joining the outcry is Iranian singer and producer Sevdaliza, who has released a new song titled “Bebin.” As a teenager, she migrated from Iran to the Netherlands and has been vocal on social media speaking out against Trump. The song, which is sang completely in Farsi, was uploaded to Sevdaliza’s Soundcloud with a statement:
“In protest of the current inhumane political climate, I could not rest my head in privilege. I wrote ‘Bebin’ in Farsi, to solidify. I stand strong with love. In this case I choose to avoid mainstream media, because I have no interest in part taking in a victimized concept. As I will not be able to travel to the United States for indefinite duration, take this without lights, camera, action. I am solely a messenger. In the brain of love, there is no place for racism, nor bigotry.” -Sevdaliza
