Mad Dash In Front Of Net Finally Ends In Goal

This was a pretty frenetic scene in the Legia Warsaw-Trabzonspor Europe League match earlier today. Trabzonspor keeper Fatih Ozturk made two point-blank saves, the post made another, as did defender Esseid Belkalem backing up the play. This goal was destined to be, however, because after Belkalem’s last line of defense save, the ball went into the keeper’s back and bounced back into the net. 

Here’s a slowed down GIF of the final moment, which is actually quite heartbreaking. You can see the ball gets through Ozturk’s legs, but Belkalem is there to save the day until…damn. So close! Both reactions are great, but Belkalem plopping down on his ass in defeat is particularly enjoyable.
