Normani Made Last Night's Billboard Music Awards Her Own

The former Fifth Harmony member's performance was more evidence that she is about to take over the world.

Fifth Harmony, put together on the US edition of The X Factor, had a good run (and, while they were at it, they also released one of the best pop songs of the last decade, fight me.) Now their members are going out alone into the brave new world of solo artistry: Camila Cabello has released basically every song currently on the radio, Lauren Jauregui put out the much-fêted "Strangers" with Halsey, and Normani Kordei has also begun making serious moves, not least with a feature on Khalid's "Love Lies" a few months back.

Last night, Normani joined Khalid onstage at the Billboard Music Awards, and from the moment she walked on it was pretty clear that it was her gig (see it above.) Adding some excitement to what were fairly chill proceedings, she made Khalid look like he was the one making a cameo, taking over the stage for a dance break during which she synced up head flips with wind sound effects, which is something I wish I could do at all times. She's a consummate performer, and considering that the members of Fifth Harmony were often sidelined throughout the group's tenure in order that Cabello could be spotlighted, it's good to see Normani sparkling like the star she is. Let's hope for more new music soon.
