Messi’s Penalty Panenka is “Softer Than a Mother’s Kiss at Bedtime”

Barcelona opened scoring against Getafe on a penalty kick made possible by a lovely ball in from Bartra to Luis Suarez. Though it was Suarez who went down inside the penalty area, the kick went to Messi and he completely undressed Vicente Guaita with a flawless panenka. Messi’s had a little bit of a rough go with penalties recently, either missing or hitting in the rebound, so it looks like he decided to change it up today. Ray Hudson on the call managed a few incredulous guttural sounds and nominated it for inclusion in the Louvre, which is all characteristically reasonable.

Barca has gone on to pile on three more goals and lead 4-0 in the first half.
