Dance Music Crashes the Country Folk Fest at Austin City Limits

Just when you thought you were safe, Skrillex and Calvin Harris show up at your door with a backpack full of glowsticks.

For over a decade now, the Austin City Limits Music Festival has corralled the best names in indie rock, folk, and singer-songwriter styles for one of the biggest annual music events in Texas. They will do so again this year, taking over 46 acres in Zilker Park from October 3 to 5—except this time they won't be leaving dance music out of the line-up.

With artists like Skrillex, Zedd, Major Lazer, and Calvin Harris on the bill, you can be sure that a lot of plaid-packing folkies are shuffling their feet and wondering what happened to the golden days, when Belle and Sebastian could sell enough tickets to fill a festival alone. The 2013 line-up included both Paper Diamond and Kaskade, but this year they've more than doubled their dance music represetation. It appears the festival organizers have finally realized how much money they stand to make by diversifying their programming to include the PLUR contingent.
