HEALTH To Score The Newest Max Payne Video Game

Noise rock will be a perfect accompaniment to killing bad guys in slow-mo.
March 7, 2012, 8:15pm

In the world of entertainment, we’re used to bands scoring soundtracks for films, from rock musicals in the form of Tommy to Air providing the score to The Virgin Suicides. But it’s not often a band provides the score for a video game. LA noise band HEALTH are paving the way by providing the score for the latest bullet-fest that is the third edition of the Max Payne series from Rockstar Games.

According to the band:

Video games are redefining entertainment, and whether people like it or not, they are becoming as culturally relevant as films. We feel that Rockstar’s projects have an undeniably raw and tasteful aesthetic. It’s vitally important to us that we be involved in things we respect artistically. Max Payne 3 has a complex story that unfolds mercilessly and we are excited to be a part of it.

You can hear snippets of the band’s score in the trailer above and you’ll be able to see the noise rockers at our San Francisco event on March 17th and 18th. But, sadly, you won’t be able to shoot lawless street gangs in bullet-time while diving through the air as you listen to them. For that, you’ll have to wait until Max Payne 3 comes out this May.
