Gorgeous Fanmade NASA Film The Frontier Is Everywhere

Awesome imagery + Carl Sagan waxing galactic = PR gold.

NASA, while being an organization that deals with an endlessly fascinating subject matter, namely the cosmos, don’t seem to have the nuance when it comes to promoting what they do. You’d think it would be easy—images of celestial bodies at play against the infinite blackness of space are almost hardwired into our consciousness as ones that inspire jaw-dropping wonder and admiration. You’d have to be a uniquely cynical individual to look at pictures of space and shrug your shoulders and go “meh.”

So, why can’t they seem to communicate their incredible work to the public while corporations have no trouble making a soft drink look like the holy grail of beverages, or banks make getting in debt seem as alluring as a morning dip on a sparkling lake? It’s just another cosmic mystery to add to the list, along with antimatter and life on Mars. Instead, they remain cut of budget and two missions short of the end of their space shuttle program.

If only they’d sought the editing skills of NASA fanboy and YouTube user damewse, who by juxtaposing breathtaking imagery with the authoritative narration of Carl Sagan—taken from his space exploratory Pale Blue Dot and lifted from Michael Marantz’s short Earth: The Pale Blue Dot—-makes it look easy. Maybe they should recruit him.
